SCHOOL HISTORY

San Antonio Elementary School-Silverio was established in 1993, under Mrs. Cresencia H. Rosales, who was also the School Principal of Paranaque Elementary School- Unit lV, presently known as San Antonio Elementary School in Valley l, in Barangay San Antonio. Relative to the increasing number of pupils that time, she put-up extension classes in Purok 4, Silverio Compound in Barangay San Isidro, to accommodate the doubled number of pupils who wanted to enroll in elementary grades.

Soon after the school began, in 1994-1995, Mrs. Rosales, together with the pioneer teachers, Mrs.  Nanette O.Tabirao, Mrs.Nancy Idanan, Mrs. Gloria Tapas, Mrs. Clarita Pascual, Mrs. Elsa Rulona, Mrs. Helen Galvan and  Mrs. Cristy Dela Cruz, were authorized to house Grade 1 to Grade 3 learners. This endeavor was also supported by Fortune Tobacco, a private company who sponsored additional two classrooms for the school. To supervise the operations of the school, Mrs. Cenen Crisaldo, Dr. Amado Rodriguez and Dr. Josefina Alcantara were assigned as principals even for a short term only. From their administrations, SANES-Silverio was able to offer two more sections in Grade 3. 

In 2000-2003, Dr. Leonarda E.R. Acuyong was given an authorization to offer Grade 4 classes with additional classrooms located in the old Silverio Health Center. In her time, a 3-shift schedule of classes were implemented due to classroom shortage.

During 2003-2006, a three-storey building was built under the national government fund. Dr. Felicidad A. Santiago, who was Principal IV then, opened Grade 5 classes. There was a total of 14 faculty members with Mr. Antonio Dorado as the assigned MTI-OIC.

Moving forward, in 2006-2007, Dr. Ligaya Rodriguez took over as School Principal. Through the support of Barangay San Isidro under Barangay Captain, Hon. Eusebio Japlos, SANES-Silverio was able to put-up Grade 6 classes.  Make-shift classrooms in the multi-purpose building were also utilized for continuous learning of the pupils.  

            In 2007-2008 of November, Dr. Bernardo N. Mascariña became the OIC/ Principal of the school, and just a few months later in 2009, Dr. Felicitas Dela Cruz took over as the School Head. During the administration of Dr. Dela Cruz, she assigned Miss Marcela B. Jorvina, a Grade 6 teacher, as Teacher-in-Charge, and served the office of the principal for three consecutive years (2007-2009). The school continuous to grow physically and in population so, during this year, a two-storey building with 4 classrooms were built to accommodate the Grade 6 classes. In this year also the   first batch of San Antonio Elem. School-Silverio graduates received their diplomas in the 1st Commencement Exercises.

As Mrs. Cresencia Rosales returned as Principal in 2009- 2010, she was assisted by Mrs. Marita G. Briones as the Officer-in-Charge. Also in this year, the enrollment continuous to increase in accommodating the nearby barangays.   

SANES-Silverio broke ground in 2010-2011 with 12 classrooms to accommodate 27 classes, thru a Congressional Fund of the City of Paranaque. This was during the term of Dr. Rodriguez Bagana, Public Schools District Supervisor/OIC-Principal who was also assigned  Mr. Nelson Carvajal, Master Teacher I to be the OIC of the school.

Words started to spread and little by little the school was able to build its own name because of the awards and distinctions it continuously receives aligned with  academics, athletics and other contests. In 2012-2014, Mr. Recto C. Makinika, Public Schools District Supervisor and was the Officer-in-Charge, assigned  Mrs. Agnes A. Pelovello to be the Assistant to the OIC. This also paved way to the construction of make-shift rooms  to house 1543 pupils.  In the same year, the school gave birth to its official newsletter, ” The Silverlight”.

Between the School Years 2012-2014, Mr. Ronel Corro assumed office as the OIC-Principal. Maximizing the spaces and allocating learning facilities for pupils, he converted the stockroom into a mini-library and the two classrooms into multi- purpose function hall. Intermediate classes were held at the covered court, and through his initiative, the said grade levels utilized the Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Approach. The school won first place in the Regional DA’s Mosaic Competition. In addition, the school Drum and Lyre group was created and always present in various school programs and competitions.

In 2014-2016, Mrs. Virginia Ramos, the Principal, initiated the process of independency of the school. A 4-storey building coined as “Olivarez Building” was also erected. Athletic trainings and programs became formalized, as well as other pupil organizations including Supreme Pupil Government. The school also defined its pillars, which include academic excellence, community and service, and leadership by example. Moving forward, the pillars helped ensure that pupils at every grade level had opportunities to flourish and grow. Once again, the school won in the DA’s Mosaic Contest for two consecutive years. Mr. Mario Madriaga received the 2014 Division Most Outstanding Public Elementary Teacher Award while Mrs. Jovelyn C. Milaor got the same recognition in 2015.

Meanwhile the school continued to progress and expand. In 2016-2019, Mrs. Evangeline E. Malicdem, assigned Principal in Silverio, advocated cleanliness, beautification and orderliness in the school community. The guidance center, clinic and kinder rooms were renovated.  The LRC, GAD, ICT and SBM rooms were also included in the learning facilities to be offered by the school. There were functional corners for Remedial Reading, Math and Journalism. “Gulayan sa Paaralan”, the rooftop garden was also constructed and maintained. To add in the accomplishments of the school, SANES-Silverio grabbed the Second Best Implementer- Small School Category in the Division Brigada Eskwela under Mr. Lawrence C. Albes, as BE Coordinator in 2016 and the Second Best Implementer in the Regional Brigada Eskwela Quest under Mrs. Cynthia Begino as BE Coordinator in 2017. Mrs. Jovelyn Milaor and Mr. Mario Madriaga equally received the 2017 Division Most Outstanding Elementary Teacher Award also with Mrs. Cynthia C. Begino, and on her 3rd award, Mrs. Jovelyn C. Milaor in 2018. Silverio also received the Division Most Number of Primer Developed Award. It was also this year that the first Implementation of the Health Emergency Management Training (HEMS) was spearheaded by Mrs. Cristy R. Dela Cruz. A remarkable event took place during this year when the Congress approved the motion to make San Antonio Elementary School-Silverio an independent school. It was well-supported by the General Parent-Teachers’ Association, Homeowners Association and the Barangay Chairman, Hon. Noel P. Japlos. Another highlight in the school’s history was the one million pesos grand prize won by SANES-Silverio in the Be RICEponsible Program of the National Government. This RICEponsible campaign continuous its objective to promote healthy eating responsible rice consumption among learners, their families, teachers, other school personnel and the community.

 

SANESA’S pupils are continuously being equipped with academic skills which enabled them to excel in all aspects of their lives in the future. From July 2019 up to present, Mrs. Marites A. Coballes, Principal, has been doing a lot of school facelifts and improvements. Renovations of the Guidance Center, ICT/LRC, Kinder Rooms and other facilities were done. Louver from the ground floor up to the fourth floor of the Olivarez Building were also installed for proper ventilation and safety of the internal stakeholders.  “Gulayan sa Paaralan”, is well maintained and considered to be one of the income generated programs of the school.  From Mrs. Coballes’ administration also began the rigorous process that would permit the school to function as an independent educational institution. Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic in March 2020, new normal system has been adapted and implemented. Distance Learning thru modular and online modalities are utilized. Another response in distance learning, the school offers Consultation Clinic to accommodate parents’ and other guardians’ questions, clarifications, as well as impart strategies for better facilitation of self-learning modules at home. Best practices of the school were also given importance. Online observation of classes was done to make sure such effective strategies are being adapted by all teachers and learners. From the foregoing, continuous upskilling sessions through LACs are being practiced for the enhancement of these best practices to suit the needs of the pupils. Presently, a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities were introduced, the School Principal supervises the 2,446 pupils, 71 teachers, 4 master teachers, 16 non-teaching personnel and 5 Learning Support Aides for the collaborative endeavor for the continuous improvement of the school.

Throughout our history, the school has remained committed to creating an environment in which learners are known, supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow as life-long learners.
